When we first started Black Rose, we put a lot of effort into fleshing out our magic system – what abilities existed, what was off-limits, how these powers were organized into different castes – and then built a society up around them. You’re seeing the tip of it on this page. When it comes to worldbuilding, I’m of the opinion that readers don’t need to be barraged with an encyclopedia of facts, but that such an encyclopedia is extremely useful behind the scenes to give the world an internal logic and keep the story on track.
