But as the arc went on, we realized the flashforward wasn’t working. It gave away the first arc’s ending while also being more confusing than intriguing – and six issues was too long to wait for a payoff. So when we collected Issues 1-6 into the first Black Rose book, we ditched the pirate ship flashforward and produced an all-new opening sequence that we’re much happier with.
